While preparing homes for estate sales and people bringing in treasures to the stores, Rachel Fitch and her team have uncovered many lost and forgotten treasures, all to the benefit of her clients. These are some of the rare finds that have been found in the last few years:
-A set of dishes from the Graf Zeppelin…sold for $31,000
-Paul Revere Signature discovered in a book…sold for $7,000
-Two-carat diamond found in the bottom of a sock drawer…sold for $12,000
-Tiffany floor lamp with a broken shade…still sold for $1,800
-Early G.Harvey oil painting… sold for $10,000
There are many treasures that, once discovered by the Fitch Team, were kept by the grateful family. These include a valuable Julian Onderdonk painting discovered hanging on the stairwell, $8,000 in cash and sterling silver found in a planter, a book with a secret compartment containing a loaded Derringer pistol, a passport, and $900 in cash, old stock certificates worth $6,500 that were in a trash pile unknowingly placed there by the family. But the best discovery uncovered for the family has been the $87,000 of silver coins hidden in shoe boxes!
Rachel says, “The rare find…that’s what I love, that’s the fun stuff and it isn’t always something with a huge monetary value. It can be an unusual collectible or something highly sentimental, like the World War II love letters we discovered in an attic. That’s what the rare find is all about…and that’s what makes this work so rewarding.”
